Paul retired from law practice in early 2020.
Paul served for more than 30 years as the senior trust executive for First Virginia Banks, Inc. (formerly BB&T and now Truist) prior to joining Manning & Murray. He has taught at George Mason University Law School and Marymount University, and has lectured at the Georgetown University Law Center. He has served as an expert witness in estate and trust administration litigation. Paul has been a longtime member of the Trust and Estate sections of the American Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar and the Arlington Bar Association.
His other community and professional service activities have included serving on the board of Virginia Hospital Center; as a past president and board member of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia; on the board of Marymount University; as a board member of Capital Caring, and as co-chair of its Planned Giving Committee; as a past president of the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council; and as a member of the Arlington County Supplemental Retirement System Board. He is an active member of the Arlington Kiwanis Club, President of the Arlington Kiwanis Foundation, and a longtime member of the Catholic Charities Special Gifts Committee.
Paul has a Doctor of Humane Letters honorus causa from Marymount University, and received the Arlington County Inter-Service Club’s Man of the Year Award. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, and as a captain in the Reserves from 1955 to 1961.
