An attorney at Manning & Murray is looking for a part-time Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary to be an integral part of his estate planning practice. Key attributes for this position are initiative, sound computer skills (including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office), and good proofreading and grammatical skills. A list of the primary job duties is below.

The time commitment will be 15-20 hours a week, with the potential to add hours at a later date. Our office is open between 8:30a and 5p, Monday through Friday – work hours are flexible, but you should generally expect to be at the office every day (with a preference for afternoon hours).

Pay will be commensurate with your ability and experience.

The start date is flexible, but the position is available immediately, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. A person who takes well to this job over the long term will gain a thorough knowledge of estate planning and law practice management.

Primary Duties:

  • Take client telephone calls, answer basic questions about our practice in a courteous manner, schedule appointments using law firm practice management software.
  • Learn to prepare legal documents (Wills, Trusts, Deeds, etc.) in accordance with attorney instruction and edits.
  • Follow up with clients to determine if changes are needed to draft documents.
  • Assist with estate planning document executions, with photocopying and mailing documents, and with closing letters to clients.
  • Prepare client invoices.
